Description

I captured this data a few months ago, but I wasn't happy with my initial attempts at processing it.  I tried to tease out that flux that all the cool kids are showing in their images, but I could never tease it out w/out a ton of noise.  I think I need to give up on going for that really faint stuff given the realities of my local light pollution.  I decided to just show what I have.

For this image I removed the stars from my lum and rgb.  I separately stretched a dup of my RGB using ArcsinhStretch and a mild histogram stretch to preserve the star colors and used those stars in the final LRGBCombined image.

Description: Now with IFN! I've been seeing all these great m81/82 images with IFN, so I thought I'd circle back and hunt for it in my data. I reprocessed my lum and was a lot more careful with DBE and stretching. With some better masking and careful use of curves, I managed to tease it out of my data. I'm sure some GHS guru could have done it a lot easier, but I still haven't warmed to that tool. I'm still looking for a good tutorial. I also tweaked the the stars a bit by using the stars I yanked from from my lum as a lum for my RGB stars, which tightened them up a bit.
